Moving clouds

It's with a heavy heart that we announce the sunsetting of Click Ranger Pro. Currently, there is no path forward for development due to changes in the way Google Analytics is accepting Events in the new version 4 API. As such we will not be accepting any additional sales of subscriptions to Click Ranger Pro.

For our existing subscribers, we're committed to supporting Click Ranger Pro and continuing to provide updates where possible for as long as version 3 of Google Analytics API is available for use. You'll be able to login here to access your account.

Effective immediately, all affiliate sales are suspended as well and any outstanding affiliate commissions will be honored.

We want to thank our existing users and look forward to seeing the future of Event tracking emerge.

Sincerely,

Pixel Jar

Requirements

Click Ranger Pro is a plugin for use on self-hosted WordPress sites, it is not compatible with the WordPress.com hosted service.

Click Ranger Pro requires a minimum of WordPress version 3.8, MySQL 5, and PHP 5.3 in order to function properly.

Recommendations: We recommend that users keep their WordPress installations up to date with the latest available version and that they look for hosts that provide the highest MySQL and PHP versions that have been adopted by WordPress.

Recording an Event

Before you begin, be sure to be logged-in to your site as an admin, be viewing the front-end of your website, and have "Show Toolbar when viewing site" checked on your User Profile to see the admin bar. (fig. 1)

To record an event, hover over the Click Ranger Pro menu item in the Admin Toolbar, and click "Record an event." You'll see a red dot appear next to the Click Ranger Pro menu item to let you know the plugin is engaged. (fig. 2)

As you move your cursor around the page, you notice a yellow highlight appear around elements that may be selected for event tracking. Click on the element you'd like to track.

Fill out the form that pops up. The Category field is useful for grouping together similar types of items. For example, you might want to group together all affiliate links or calls to action so that you can find out which of those items are being clicked the most. Most of the time, "Click" is going to be what you want to track for the Action, but words like "Download" or "Submit" might work as well. Finally, the Label field is really what makes this particular event unique. You might want to enter the text in a link or button, or possibly even the file that's being downloaded. By default, the event will only be tracked on the specific URL that you're on, but if you'd prefer the event be tracked for the entire website, check the "Apply to all pages" checkbox. This might apply if you are tracking a common page element inside of a navigation or sidebar.

Finally, click "Save Event." (fig. 3)

Modifying an Event

Before you begin, be sure to be logged-in to your site as an admin, be viewing the front-end of your website, and have "Show Toolbar when viewing site" checked on your User Profile to see the admin bar. (fig. 1)

To modify an event, hover over the Click Ranger Pro menu item in the Admin Toolbar, and click "View events (n)." (fig. 2) You'll see all your current events for this page highlighted in yellow. (fig. 3)

When you hover over any element you'll see an information window open containing data about the event. Click on the element you'd like to edit. (fig. 3)

Modify the fields to your liking, then click "Save Changes." (fig. 4)

Or, to delete an event, click the red "Delete Event" to remove the event completely. (fig. 5) This will only remove the element from tracking. It will not delete data collected by Google Analytics about the event. All historical data will remain in Google Analytics.

Reporting

Your best source of reporting is going to be with Google Analytics. The main goal of Click Ranger Pro is to help you track events in Google Analytics. That said, we do still provide some basic tracking stats for the last seven days on each event's edit page. It appears at the bottom of the edit screen. (fig. 1)

Canceling a Subscription

Click Ranger Pro operates on an annually reoccurring subscription basis. (Unless you have a Lifetime license, in which case a one-time fee grants you access to downloads, updates, and support for the life of the plugin.) As long as you’re subscribed you have access to updates to Click Ranger Pro and access to our support system for any issues that might arise with your specific installation.

Each year on the anniversary of your purchase you’ll be notified about the upcoming renewal. The reoccurring payment for your subscription is handled automatically through your PayPal account.

If you’d like to cancel your subscription, you can choose “Cancel” from the Actions under “Manage Your Subscriptions” on your Purchase History page.
